New SEO Job

Hey guys, a bit of a personal post to update everyone on why I haven’t posted and some big changes. A lot has been going on, so a lot of emails have been left unanswered and sites put on hold.

First, I completed my move (was waiting for lease to expire) and I am now officially back in Nashville, Tn (completely back for good). I’m looking forward to getting involved in all the web design / seo / internet marketing stuff here.

Even better news, I landed an in-house gig at the best online marketing company here in Nashville. Paramore|Redd does everything from web design, strategy, email marketing, display advertising, and PPC. I stepping in to help them commit to SEO. So I’m Paramore|Redd’s new “SEO guy”.

I like consulting and doing my own work, but I’m really excited about working with them on some higher scale projects. They have a great team of designers and programmers who can build some amazing sites. I get to help build their program, so its very appealing.

Soon I’ll be working to optimize their domain and promoting them over the next few months. I should be blogging over there too. Once I start, I’ll let you guys know. The content will be a little different than it is here (less tactical and not “make money online”). If you want to get my new blog posts, subscribe to their online marketing blog. I think we’ll be adding more to their blog too, so you guys should check it out.

What Does This Mean for SEO Zombie?

Well, I have no plans to stop this blog. There may be a bit of lag in content as I adjust to the new job. The only change in content might come from my change in experience. Currently, I have done a lot of work with affiliate sites that I build and own. A lot of my time over the next few months will be focused on teaching SEO and promoting bigger businesses with solid brands.

SEO Consulting

I’ll keep myself open for basic freelance consulting, but if you’re a business with a big project, it may go through P|R. The great news about that is they’re a full range interactive agency. They can do everything from graphic design, website design, programming, email, PPC, and SEO.

Well I’m starting this week and settling into my new place soon. Once I’m completely settled, my blogging schedule will pick up again.

Also, I’m doing a contest. I’m waiting for the results on it. You can support it by checking out my contest post about search engine friendly web design.

Why would you get a real job when you can make great money on your own? I’m in this for the reason that I never want to have a real job again. I want my life back and don’t want to be a slave to corporate America.

      lol =)

Actually I thought this one over a lot and had enough reasons to justify it to myself.

-I wanted to work on large scale projects. The majority of the work I do is on my own sites. I wanted to work on company sites with big brands and big budgets. Just a nice change of pace.

-There is a lot of shift toward brands in SEO. None of my sites have solid “brands”. I wanted to spend some time working in this area of SEO. My passion is more for SEO than just “make money online”, so the chance to work on sites that already have massive authority sounds fun. And I get to target high profile keywords with confidence.

-I wanted the chance to work with a group of people who are skilled in web design and programming. Executing linkbait, tools, and amazing designs is possible with a team of like 30 people. I hope to do things I couldn’t pull off alone.

-I’m relatively young and never worked in an office environment so I guess I’m less jaded. I wanted the experience of pitching high level proposals and selling SEO services to clients in a “corporate” environment. I know how the “work from home” SEO stuff works, but this is all new to me. And Paramore | Redd isn’t really corporate. Our VP has a ton of tattoos and I wear jeans to work. A lot of people wear shorts and sandals. I keep myself a bit more professional, but that’s just a personal choice.

-I get to meet great people and businesses. Friday, my second day on the job, I got to go to lunch with the marketing people from a big theme park in the southeast. I’m working on SEO for a national level financial company right now. And Monday, I get to sit in on a conference call to sell SEO to a nice size resort.

-Lastly, I get to be *THE* SEO guy at their company. I get to build their SEO program. Yeah, I have a boss at work, but I’m basically building up my own department, so I define a lot of my own work right now. The idea of running the SEO campaigns was appealing. It isn’t a situation where I’m handed SEO grunt work to complete. I dictate the entire campaign’s strategy and tactics. Yeah, I’m working for a company, but it is a lot like building my own business from scratch. (which is good for me because I’m very self motivated)

Good enough. And you can always head towards the door with more experience when you do get “jaded”.

  11. Welcome back to Nashville. I love it here.

I’m with you on your reasoning for going to work for an agency that will allow you to work on large scale projects, with a talented team. I enjoy those projects, as well.

We should meet up sometime, grab a beer, talk shop.

    All the Best,
    Freeman

I always like to see someone who is willing to help other get ahead. Sounds like that could be a real interesting job.
    Here’s to your continued success.

Justin I have read your blog for some time, and frequently interacted with you over on Grizz’s blogs. I wanted to let you know about a small social networking site I have set up for people that I have worked with in the past, and for people they trust. The site is for us to exchange ideas and concepts and help each other when necessary. If you would like to know more about it, you can email me and I will give you the address.

Thanks, and good luck with the new job. My wife keeps hassling me to move Tennessee, but I am plenty happy in the high deserts of AZ.

  14. Tylor says:

search the google then find your site.
that is a really excellent post.

    Thanks for the post.
