Zombie Sniper SEO Wordpress Theme

by Justin on July 27, 2008

Thesis SEO Theme
Releasing a new theme. It is inspired by the Transblack theme, which Vic suggests for usage on an Adsense niche blog. It is meant to generate high CTR. I took the theme and optimized it for search engines. This theme is designed to target a specific keyword.

Changes

  • Applied “Keyword Sniping” features to the theme
  • Auto generated H1
  • One right sidebar, that appears below the content
  • Nofollow on “home” link on menu
  • Only 1 H1 tag
  • H2 tag on post titles
  • H3 tags on sidebar and comments
  • Site name anchored link in footer
  • Valid code

Also made changes to the graphics to account for the side bar changes.

Set up

This theme is designed to target a specific keyword. This works just like the keyword sniper theme, but I made it easier to insert your keyword. Instead of inserting your keyword directly into the theme, you need to insert your main keyword into the site description field. (Settings>General>Tagline). I can make a video showing you how to do this, if you need help.

Recommended Ad Settings

This theme is designed for increasing your CTR by making links stick out and ads blending in. Here are the recommended settings for your ads.

Adsense or Yahoo
300×250

  • Border #212121
  • Title #a2dc02
  • Background #212121
  • Text #909090
  • URL #909090
Download Zombie Sniper Version 1.0

I’ve tested the site a little and I haven’t seen any problems. The code is valid, so it “should” work fine. If you find any problems, let me know and I’ll correct them.

Now that my friend, is a sexually attractive wordpress theme.

What do you mean by auto generated h1 tag? I generally like to use h1 on the post title and try to make the title match some kind of keyword, but then you can’t use flashy titles.

Justin July 27, 2008 at 1:53 am

The header/logo is in a div, but you’ll see a line above it which is actually the H1

For example, at the top of my blog you’ll see
SEO | POST TITLE

My targeted keyword is SEO, so it is set up in the code to be like this:

YOUR KEYWORD | PAGE TITLE or POST NAME

It creates a unique h1 on each page that also includes your targeted keyword. Court uses the method in his keyword sniping theme, so I applied it to this. Court’s theme is all clean and white, because he’s very white hat, but for those who want to manipulate with colors to get a higher CTR, this is a good choice.

That’s what I thought. I started using this on my theme a while ago, I use it without the added keyword because I might try to use different pages to target different keywords.

Nice theme!

That’s a cool theme. I will definitely use it for one of my new sites.

Justin July 30, 2008 at 11:47 pm

Thanks James.

Hi Justin!
How about putting up a demo of this theme instead of a screen-shot so those of us with under average eyesight can appraise it?

Is the white on black part of the “hack off the surfer to induce AdSense clicks” tactic; or a more ’subliminal’ choice??

Justin July 30, 2008 at 11:46 pm

Yeah, I need to put up a demo section. If I launch multiple SEO themes, I might put something up to do this. Right now we’re looking at redesigning this place, with a legit design, so some stuff is on back burner just until that is done. I don’t want to spend the time setting stuff up, since the layout and design might change soon =(

A friend of mine is working on it, it should turn out nicely.

Hey Justin,

Nice WP SEO theme modification. Haven’t figured which of my sites to use it on yet, but I’m sure I’ll come up with something! Thanks for putting it up for public use.

Justin July 30, 2008 at 11:44 pm

Thanks Terry.

Yeah, I’ve been meaning to do this. Ever since Vic talked it up for the competition, I planned to use it. Figured I’d try to optimize it so we could all get the best performance out of it.

KG Lew July 29, 2008 at 6:51 pm

Hi Justin,

I’m trying to spread my ebay affiliate stores over different platforms(BANS, phpbay, blogspot, etc…) and was hoping maybe you could take a free wordpress theme and make it seo friendly for phpbay, and make it look more like a store, rather than a blog. Dont know it you use phpbay or not, but if you do, that would be cool if you could make a seo wordpress theme for one. Thanks for all the great info so far, its been coming in handy.

Thank you for such a great theme. I had problems locating the color number for the background at first. But got it here when i came to drop a comment. Looking forward to more great posts from you. And of cos, more templates.

roger August 24, 2008 at 2:36 am

I want to start few sniper sites but don’t want to use same wordpress theme.

I want to mainly change the “header”, how to do this in easy way.

lissie November 19, 2008 at 1:40 pm

OK this is clearly a stupid question -but I cant see it and my php/css is marginal at best
Where the f..k do I put the Adsense block? I wanted something ilke grizzs – above the titles – but I can see where to put it – or is there a plugin I should be using?

Nick December 13, 2008 at 10:03 am

Hey Justin,

Great theme there, much better than the original one by askgraphics – will be adding it to the collection that I use for my niche sites.

@ Lissie – I use Who sees ads plugin and pop the pop the code in on each post, similar to the ‘more’ feature and darn easy – my limited php knowledge tells me that Justin has taken all the good stuff from Court’s Sniper theme and added it to the askgraphics one.

John January 7, 2009 at 8:24 pm

There is an indication by Court and Mark that they have had a go-around with the big G regarding Keyword Sniping. A recent post suggests that, as a result, changes have been or are being made to Court’s original KS process…

Do you know anything about that? Have you or anyone you know of attracted G’s “attention” with your theme that is the topic for this post?

Thanks, Justin, and keep up the good work…

Are you the Justin that optimized the adsense themes called Xplosive Reloaded?

If you are, perhaps you could answer a question on modifying the header graphic.

Download Link Doesn’t Work T_T

Justin February 6, 2009 at 4:49 am

It should work now, sorry for that Vincent

Thanks Justin for the big improvement on transblack.
When I go to Appearance, Widgets, there are several items I can’t add to the sidebar, like Links, Recent Posts, Tag Cloud, and Recent Comments. They have no Add link.
Is there an edit somewhere I can make?
