Search Engine Optimization Guide

Making a post to combine all the posts I make to teach SEO basics. As I make posts, I’ll be updating them here. I’ll link this post in my sidebar for people to find.

SEO is the study and practice of increasing organic traffic (search engine traffic) to a website by optimizing internal and external factors, which will result in an increase of search engine rankings. Although the term SEO is still used, many SEO’s practice social media marketing and other forms of online public relations. The primary goal is to drive targeted traffic to a site.

Below are posts I’ve made on the basics of Search Engine Optimization that can serve as a guide to learning SEO for beginners. Its not complete, but I will be adding to it.

  5. Write for SEO - Learn how to write well for SEO. Beyond just site coding, you need to improve your ability to produce optimized site copy.
  6. Page Rank and Links Explained - Covers the basics of pagerank / link juice and the role links play in SEO
  7. Internal and Deep linking - Improve your site’s crawlability by internal linking your pages. This allows you to control PR flow and reduce your site’s depth.
  8. Long Tail Keywords - Introduction of long tail keywords and the role they play for SEO’s. The first step in finding niche markets and targeting easy to dominate markets.
  9. Free Keyword Research Tools - A list of popular free keyword research tools that can be used for finding keywords to target.
  10. Competitive Analysis - Basics of researching your competition so you can out rank them in SERPS

maybe you could like create a downloadable pdf, placed strategically somewhere on your site. Which newbies (which I was early this year) could download. Just a thought…

I thought about it. I’m not sure how I feel about having an ebook, but once I put together some more information I might put together 1 pdf that outlines the basics.
