Power of Local Google Search
June 7, 2008 By: Justin | 5 commentsI just saw something really cool and I had to share (I’m excited about it). I want to show the power of Local Google Search. My site is a little over a month old and the top SEO guys in my town are around 5 years old and have a PR 6 (they’re cool guys btw). They’re serious business. I had said early on this blog that I couldn’t compete with their rankings for a while… well that is without Google search. I got really excited when I searched for Nashville SEO this morning. Check it out!
My actual ranking is at the bottom of page two for this term. With Google local search though, I’m right at the top! This isn’t a high volume keyword at all, but it’s exciting to see.
If you have a local business, consider signing up with local search. I’ll try to make a post about it later if anyone is interested.

Congrats Justin!
You can be excited, it is justified.
Thanks Rhys!

Justin, I have a local news blog, but it covers multiple topics. I am not sure signing up for a local search would help. I do not live in the area I blog about. I do not have a local physical business. What is you opinion? Does this only apply to a physical business?
Congrats on your success with SEO Zombie!
For local business listings you’re suppose to have a physical address for the area. I think you can get a listing with a PO box (not 100% on this), but its mainly for local businesses. I work from home. Google accepted me, but Yahoo rejected my address.
Google likes fresh meat. Even zombie meat is OK it seems : )
