Big SEO Mess - Podcast
October 8, 2008 By: Justin | 7 commentsSo I’m launching my own podcast. I thought a podcast would be a faster way to make posts about topics that are difficult to explain in text. I’ll still be doing text posts and some video posts, but instead of just looking at my face when I talk, you’ll just be getting audio. The video posts will be saved for tutorials.
I’d like to do a podcast at least once a week and maybe more. The great thing about this is they’re downloadable mp3’s, so you can save it to your computer and ipod to listen to whenever you want.
This is the first and intro podcast. I talk in general this week about some of the problems people have with SEO and some misconceptions. Its nothing too advanced, but good for anyone who still wondering why some get ranked and you just cannot. In the next podcast we’ll start getting into some real stuff.

Hi Justin,
That was a great post. You make a post stressing the importance of keyword anchored links today. Grizz did the same yesterday. Aren’t any of you guys concerned you might get slapped by Google like Court did?
On another note, the podcast idea is a great one, especially since it’s downloadable. People can put their commute or gym time to good use!
Justin I like the podcasts, right on. I hope that they are much easier to put together than the video. Plus you have a great choice in music. I look forward to some more in-depth seo talking.
P.S. thanks for the link laundering idea, working really well. ;)
It is satisfying to beat other more authoritative sites in the search results for certain keywords. Everybody should aim to do this for at least one keyword to give them the confidence that they can do it I think :-)
The podcast is a good idea and you are easy to listen to. You could maybe phase in and out the music a bit more smoothly (maybe overlap it with the voice), but for a first attempt it is good IMO.
I like the podcast format as well. It downloads much, much faster so I don’t have to wait a few minutes before I hit the play button. I enjoy reading your articles so I hope that you don’t stop doing that, but I can understand how much easier it is to just talk about something than it is to write about it.
Justin, great idea about the podcasts. It makes it much easier to listen at my 9-5 than read a long article.
I totally agree: Google is a business, not an ethical guideline LOL! Good “post” - though I find you Americans do talk real slow LOL
lol, I actually talked slower than normal on purpose. I paused a whole lot. If I don’t I tend to get over excited and talk really fast and then my words mumble =P Its a bad habit, so I tried to talk really slow =P
Also sitting alone in a room talking to your computer (for 20 mins) is really aawkward. You’re more aware of your speaking than when you have normal conversations. This caused me to mess up a lot, so its recorded in pieces. I then edit them together.
I should get better at it
